The folk ensamble ˝Matija Gubec˝ from Karlovac, Croatia.

The folk group was founded in 1936. and it's 78 years tradition it's been working on the
preservation of the traditional Croatian culture, ˝tambura˝ music, folk singing and the
preservation of national custums and dances. The group gathers 98 active dancers and
singers ages 19-30, and children group with 65 members. Also, it gathers 12 active
musitians.

During the years, the group has achieved a high level of performing it's repertoire and
approached to the world organisation for folk groups CIOFF (under the patronage of
UNESCO). The group participated in many known international folk festivals under the
partonage of CIOFF. Allow me to number them:

· 2002. Spain (CIOFF festivals in Segovia and Burgos)
· 2004. Australia (concert tour)
· 2005. Italy (festival in Mondragone)
· 2006. Sicily (festival in Marsala)
· 2007. USA (CIOFF festival in Waynesville-Folkmoot, concert tour)
· 2008. Turkey (CIOFF folk festival in Kesan)
· 2009. Mexico (CIOFF festivals in Monterrey, Hidalgo and Gudalajara)
· 2010. Russia (CIOFF folk festival in Great Novgorod and Machackala),
Italy (CIOFF folk festival in Gorizia)
· 2011. Portugal (CIOFF folk festival in Argoncilhe)
· 2012. Poland (Folk festival in Pulawy)
· 2013. Turkey (CIOFF folk festival in Balcova, Izmir)

It is very important to say that the ensemble did 3 big tours in Canada and USA in 1993,
1996 and 2007 (Waynesville, Pittsburg, Cleveland, Youngstown, Las Vegas, Pueblo, Los
Angeles, San Francisco, Sacrmento, Chicago and Kansas city Kansas in USA; Toronto,
Mississagua, Hamilton in Canada). Also, the ensemble performed in Australia in 2004
(Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra, Geelong and Melbourne).
The group performs dances from all regions of the Republic of Croatia with total 28
choreographies. We perform in original folk costumes, some of them more then 100
years old. The perfomances are accomapined with live music on original Tamburica
folk instruments.
